The blushing bride

Courtney and Eric
Married in Mexico in June.

Courtney and Claire became friends in fourth and fifth grade.
Once their moms were introduced to one another, we became fast friends.
Our escapades could fill quite a few pages.
But here we are, with the first of the girls to be married.
Isn't she gorgeous?

More Peter and Bean

It's twice as fun with two puppies from the same litter. They're used to sleeping in a pile, always having someone to play with, and don't ever get sad or lonely.

Cam and I got the right dogs. Peter is bigger, smarter, and quicker at housebreaking. (he'll be a great house dog at college) Bean is the baby, and is cuter, smaller, and more cuddly. (perfect for our empty nest)

They're growing, and becoming comfortable with us. But I'll always love these baby pictures!

Wedding Cake

Aunty Cary will always feed sweets to your children!

Peyton enjoys a little chocolate at Courtney's wedding. I promise to post a photo of the beautiful bride!

2008 Olympic Trials

We started the day with a little tailgate, joined by Dennis and John, but there was no party going on. We were the only ones in the parking lot, so we realized this wasn't Ducks football. But the margaritas were great and we didn't have to stand in a long line for the food. Feeling fortified, we walked across the street to Hayward Field.

The area around Hayward was totally decked out with blocks of booths and displays, and we shopped and strolled on the way to our seats. We got lots of t-shirts and goodies in the Nike store, rested in the blazing sun with a cold beer, and Dennis bought some gorgeous art for their pool area.

We had great seats in the 15th row overlooking the pole vaulting. And we were in the shade for most of the afternoon, which was a bonus, since it was in the 90's and sunny - an absolutely stunning day.

The entire event was spectacular. We had a perfect view of the starting and finish lines, even though we were on the oposite side of the stadium, thanks to the big TV's.

We saw the women's 400 meter hurdles - what a tough race!

And the men's 5000 meter. We were happy to see two Oregon runners win their heats in the 800 and the 5000. Naturally, the crowd went wild!

Nike's merchandise was amazing, and their wildly painted 70's VW bugs were complete with a walk down memory lane. There is a lot of emphasis on Pre, and we watched a TV special on his life last night.

I'm still sort of obsessed with him. His spirit definitely occupies that stadium and it's hard to be there and not think of him.

Pre's running shoes - made from an old pair of Adidas - you can still see the shadow of the Adidas stripes under the green finish. And Bowerman's waffle maker used to create those innovative soles.

It was a great day - almost magical - and we were fortunate enough to be able to see the parade of the USA's 1980 Olympic athletes, who were unable to compete because of the USA's boycott of the Russian games.

Norris ran on the Oregon Track team while he was in college and Bowerman was his coach. Just stepping into Hayward is special for him, and I loved that we were able to get tickets to this big event!

(and the tickets were purchased in an auction for the Windermere Foundation, so our *ahem* sizable donation for those four seats will buy a lot of food and care for homeless kids in Portland. Win/Win!)

The Bean

Any questions about his name?

Things are going smoothly. Boomer hasn't bitten his head off yet and house breaking is going ok. His puppyness is evident - he'll chew on anything that's near his mouth and when he runs around, he has a very playful gait. He is very, very cute.

He's also a great magnet - Whit came home for the weekend to see him and we've had lots of visitors since he joined the family.

Peter is also just wonderful, and I love them both the same, LOL. But Bean is MINE.

Do you actually mind that I'm eating this blanket?

He is the sweetest little pup, still intimidated by Boomer, and getting used to life with his new family.

All this excitement just wears a little guy out.

Sleeping with Pete. You should see the positions!

His name is Bean.

Peter and ?

Cam's new puppy. His name is Peter!

My birthday present! Peter's little brother.

So scared! He's hiding behind his new mommy.

What's his name? We're working on that and hoping he'll give us some clues.

Graduation Day

Zach and Whit, friends and roommates for four years.

So proud!

After a cocktail party at a professor's house, we drove out into the country to a beautiful winery for dinner.

Friends since their days in the dormitory, friends for life.

A Beautiful Day!

We're off to Commencement at the University of Oregon. Whit will graduate with honors, earning a Bachelor of Science Degree in Economics and a minor in Business Administration.

College was easy for him, and he took ping pong, frisbee and yoga along with the basics. He worked for the Football team and had a beautiful girlfriend. It was just the way college was supposed to be.

He has a job with an economic consulting company and is planning to go on to Graduate School in a year or two.

I can't wait for this day. The sun is shining, the champagne is chilled, and we're on our way. I can't wait to hug our boy!

** bonus: There's a big celebration at a winery this evening with all of his friends, roommates and their families. We're staying at a country hotel. We're even bringing Boomer!

Man, that pizza was good

If you haven't made pizza on your barbecue grill yet, you should give it a whirl.

We had a little shindig last night, and I decided to finally get around to grilling pizza. Teri swears by it, so it has to be good!

I bought texas rolls in the frozen bread section, thawed them overnight in the refrigerator, and then rolled them out really thin - they made a perfect plate-sized pizza. (or buy the ready-made pizza dough at Trader Joe's - just don't make the pies too big) Norris oiled up the grill and baked the crusts before everyone arrived - once we were suitably lubricated with wine and stories, everybody put on their own toppings. The last step is to throw them back on the grill to finish them off, but we were having so much fun in the kitchen that we just did it in the oven.

Only one person fell asleep watching the Dubai pics, LOLOL.

Love my girls!
